Hi all,
I have the PC game 'Tomb Raider Angel of Darkness' and wondered if it would be compatible on a PC with Vista?

Try it but I'm not sure if it will. The only other option would be to use a Virtual pc. which is easy to do, i have done this many times for old games.Things that are free in life are great, well most of the time :beer:0

Review: Microsoft Virtual PC 2004.
about:Virtual PC was originally developed for Mac OS by Connectix. From then Microsoft bought the software from them, Gave it a clean and a new look, and has repackaged it as Microsoft Virtual PC 2004.
Virtual Pc is very easy to use and uses a wizard to guide you through the process of setting up your Machine. Through the wizard you are asked what you want to call your Virtual Pc and what operating system are you going to be installing.
You can change the RAM(Random access memory) memory settings if needed just incase your pc is running a little slow(very handy). You also use ‘your’ harddive but an image is created which your virtual pc is installed on. So your virtual pc will have the amount of memory available on ‘your’ pc without affecting any files.
Much hardware is supported by Ms Virtual Machine and you can use the following:
Three hard drives
An optical drive
A floppy drive
Serial and parallel ports
Four network adapters
Sound Card.
The Network adaptor is a very good, it allows you to use your exisiting network(including wireless) to access the internet from your virtual PC. The optical drive is handy for installing software.
Adapters can be bridged, only connected to the host, or setup to share the host's connection with NAT
The Virtual Pc software:
The Virtual Pc Software main window contains a listing of the virtual machines you're currently using. When Virtual Pc is running it shows an active thumbnail of its display. Through the main screen you can change the settings for each pc by right clicking and selecting properties.
With any Virtual Pc you can shut down the system or save its state for another time(like hibernation). Virtual PC also has a feature called undo disks. They store changes made to your virtual HD in separate files. So if you install a program on your Virtual Pc and a problem occurs you can go back to previous settings(like system restore).
What’s Needed/Supported.
The main one really is an operating system on disc and your product key.(Remember it is just like installing it on a harddrive from scratch)
Supported Operating systems(your pc): Windows 2000 Professional SP4, Windows XP Professional or later, and Windows XP Tablet PC Edition or later.
Windows Xp home will work. Once you open the set-up you will receive a message saying that Virtual pc will run on your operating system but Microsoft does not offer any support.
My Experience
I have a few operating system discs. So I decided to try out Windows 98. I set up the virtual pc using the wizard and clicked to run my operating system. I came to the windows 98 system setup(which is in a window so you can see your desktop full screen is also an option. So you are just seeing your virtual machine)
I ran through the set-up and everything seemed to have worked just like a normal installation. Once set-up I had windows 98 start-up screen
It ran fine. I came to the desktop. Sounds worked I heard the Windows 98 Start-up sound. Everything worked. My keyboard and my touch pad. I had changed the settings for the Virtual pc so that it used my wireless networking. I could access the internet by using Internet Explorer. Full Screen view made it look very good.
Here is a picture of Showbiz Spy on Windows 98 Virtual Pc.
I also tried windows 2000 which worked well.
My Thoughts
Microsoft virtual Pc 2004 IS a very easy to use program and interesting. It is good for software developers and for general use. I had no problems with installing both of my operating systems and both seem to work well. I would recommend it to anyone who has somewhat idea what they are doing and would like a go. Thumbs Up from me!
