in Credit cards
Got a pair on ASDA cc that the wife uses for food etc and i put my fuel on it.
i always use the chip and pin express lane but today only 1 pump was working so used the normal lane. filled up, £70 ouch, and went to the kiosk.
slide the card in the machine and it goes blank. try again, the same. the till assistant asks if i want to sign for it......thats when i release i havnt signed it!
so i puts on best poker face and says yeah sure, waiting for her to look at the back of the card but to my amazment so doesnt even look! i 'sign' my normal signature and she passes me the card and off i go!

It's not uncommon. I've seen hundreds of credit slips signed with 'Mickey Mouse' and 'A Robber'. Till operators are not overly given to attention to detail.
But don't worry, your transaction will go through ok.0 -
Technically, isn't the card invalid if it isn't signed?!
But yeah, when I worked on a till for a company, I only ever had to swipe twice, and both times I checked.
It's something that's never trained though, I just knew to do it.0 -
Indeed, I've signed "M Mouse" before. As long as they have a signature, they don't seem to care. You could probably complain that it wasn't you later, but that'll just open a hole can of worms and most likely isn't worth it. Fraud investigations and all that.Deleted_User wrote: »It's not uncommon. I've seen hundreds of credit slips signed with 'Mickey Mouse' and 'A Robber'. Happened to me some years back, in the days before Chip N Pin.
Had recently received a replacement card and like a muppet forgot to sign it before putting it in my wallet.
Was buying some petrol, signed the slip and assistant noticed I hadn't signed the card.
"Pass it here" I say, they passed it back, I signed the card in front of them, passed it back, "There you go" I say. "Thankyou sir" they say and then they proceeded to compare the signatures.0
