Heater switch -How do you get to it?

Hi my Mum's 2008 Ford Focus Style has started blowing Cold air even when on the hot position. My Dad says it's the switch. How do you get to the switch? My Dad tried pulling at the heater dial but to no avail.

How does your dad know its the switch, unless the wire has snapped off inside and its really loose?

Google image "Focus Heater Switch" and it will show what the panel looks like, it will give you some clues!

If heater switch is hot but you get cold air, there may be no coolant in the heater matrix.

Check the coolant and report back.

Sorry I should have mentioned this. When he was turning the dial there was no resistance so it felt loose????

You have to remove the fascia panel and the screws to remove the heater switches are under that. Have a look on talkford.com or a Focus owners club forum. They will be able to assist further. My first thought was a faulty thermostat when you said cold air blowing on the hot setting. It was a common fault.

Well I though I would update this. Would have done it sooner however there has been a major problem with the phone lines so I couldn't get online.

The problem was the cable that is attached to the heater switch had become tangled. It's a braided wire???? Dad straightened it out and lubricated with WD40 and there is glorious heat once more:T
