Does Experian update credit files on same day each month?

Hi all,

Just got my credit file from Experian and all but one of my credit accounts say 'Account updated to 04/03/2007 (MBNA account is dated 04/02/2007). The date of the report is 13/03/07. Does anyone know if Experian update all of their files on the 4th of the month (so individual companies update at various times throughout the month, perhaps the statement date, and then Experian updates everything on the 4th?) or if all credit companies report account information to Experian on the 4th? Hope that question makes sense!

Funny you shoud post that .. I noticed the same sort of thing.

A new account of mine had updated on my Equifax report days ago but the status remained the same on Experian.

I checked today and the account in particular has now been updated to show account information to 01/04/07 but only updated by Experian today(Last month it had updated on 04/03/07).

I have also another which says last update was on 18/03/07

Thanks Tori. Did both Experian and Equifax show the same information for your account? i.e. do you think they notified both agencies on the same day, and the agencies themselves update on different dates?

The credit card companies send information to the CRAs once a month on a day of their choosing. I believe that Experian then do updates twice a month, so they will pick up all the credit card updates on one of those twice-monthly update runs. That is my understanding.

I would expect that the card companies will send the data to all 3 CRAs at the same time, but that each CRA will update based on their own schedules.

Yes, they both now show the same information.
