Dodgy waste disposal

I've just done something really stupid and am kicking myself. We're having some building work at the moment which has generated about 30 bags of rubbish out the front of the house, which the builders were planning to order a skip for.
I just had a knock at the door and some guys asked if I wanted a quote for removing it all - which came in significantly less than skip hire quote - so I agreed and they loaded it all into their (unmarked) van there and then. As I didn't have cash on me, they're coming back for payment in a few hours, when I've been to the machine.
I'm not usually this dumb but I am fairly trusting and it was only after they loaded the van up that it dawned on me that my rubbish may now be destined for illegal fly tipping. I feel it's a bit late to start asking questions about waste carrier licences and I'm going to have to pay them because they've taken the rubbish as agreed but wonder if I should do something like get a receipt or just chalk the whole thing down to experience. Any thoughts on what I should do when they come back?
None of the rubbish could be traced back to ours but I just feel horrible about the thought I might have just paid someone to fly tip.

you have had 30 bags of rubbish outside your house for how long ? & how many people have seen it there ? & if you are correct & it is fly tipped it's not gonna take the boys in blue long to work out where it's come from, the least you can do is take the reg no of the van pop down to your local police station & voice your concerns, that way you are being pro active & in the event it is fly tipped it shouldn't come back on you.I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.
You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.0 -
As they've taken it and are coming back for the cash they've trusted you somewhat n'est pas? It won't be your average !!!!! just dumping it over the hedge as a matter of course by all accounts.
Having a Waste Carriers Registration is no guarantee that it won't be fly tipped.
What does it matter if the van is sign written or not?
As a matter of interest how much are they charging you? That when measured against an approximate weight will tell you if they are disposing of it properly or not. Hint - £ 100+ a ton is probably what they have to pay out at the tip.
Don't think the BIB will be interested in "what ifs" as they like to work on cold hard facts and evidence but the Environment peeps at the Council may well be.

If you're worried, make a note of the reg of the vehicle they come back in.Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.0

Thanks for your replies. All paid now and I got a receipt that has a printed company name on with address, plus their phone number 'if I want anything else doing' so I'm feeling a bit less worried now. I know that doesn't necessarily mean anything (in the same way an unmarked van doesn't either) but it gives me a bit more confidence as I'd assume illegal dumpers wouldn't want to be easily found. I noted the van reg as well.
In response to keystone - the cost was £70, compared to the £170 our builders had quoted for a skip - I think the rubbish was slightly more than a mini skip so that price would have been a midi skip but I doubt we'd have filled it.
The bags have only been there a day and were on our front patio so neighbours would have seen them but I don't think we were bothering anyone. I just meant that there wasn't anything in the waste with our details on.0
