Hi, I have a few questions.
Recently, I signed off JSA as I was starting University (I didn't notify the job centre or the work program that I was going to University, should I have done?) Around three or four weeks ago I posted my sing on form back to the job centre, simply putting that i "No longer wished to claim JSA" in the relevant box.
Today in the post I have received three letters from DWP. One informing me that they had paid £67.50 my bank account. It does not say anywhere on the letter as to why they have done this, does anyone on here have nay ideas?
The next letter is of even more concern to me. It states that amount of money I was paid whilst claiming JSA, and states that "all of it is taxable"? Further along in the letter it says that they have contacted Inland Revenue who "will pay any refund due, or if you owe tax will tell you how it is to be collected".
The final letter contains a form from HM Revenue & Customs, containing pages for my 'new employer' to fill in and one for me to hand to my 'new employer'.
Is this normal practice or am I in big trouble? I realise that there is a lot there to read, but please, if anyone has any advice or information it would be greatly appreciated as i'm going out of my mind with worry here.
Thanks.

You have receieved your P45 from the jobcentre which is standard and nothing to worry about.
You've also been told that JSA is a taxable benefit and nothing to worry about there either really.
I can only imagine the £67.50 payment is something outstanding from your benefit. I received £100 payment after coming of JSA after I found employment so this could possibly be some sort of reward. Best to contact the jobcentre, they will definitely tell you what it's for.0

Thanks. With regards to the tax, will I have any money taken off me? I had no idea whilst claiming JSA that it could be taxed?0

 Probably not.
However, JSA is taxable income, and the amount of tax you have to pay for each tax year (April to April) is calculated on your total taxable income during the year. So if you find a holiday job over Christmas and earn ten thousand pounds doing it, you need to add on the amount you received in JSA in order to calculate the total amount of tax you need to pay.0

It'll depend on what your earnings for the rest of this tax year are.
You start with a tax allowance of £8,105 for this tax year - meaning that you can 'earn' up to that amount across thie year before you are liable for income tax. JSA is taxable and counts as earnings. If you are just receiving JSA for the whole year it won't come to enough to pay tax, but if you start earning then what you've received in benefits needs to be taken into account when working out how much tax you will pay. Hence the Jobcentre giving you a P45 showing the amount they've paid you for you to pass on to any new employer.0

hi i have recently got a job after 12 months being on JSA after being made redundant last year i am 25 years of age single and had to move back in with my dad after i lost my flat culdnt not pay the rent i pay my dad £40 per week for bord only and then spend aprox £30 pw on food i dont smoke nor have a mobile phone my only expenses are food and lodging. i was not entitled to ANY help with this due to it being a relative so my JSA payment of £71 per week was used to cover this.
i have got a job now however i dont get payd unitl the 23rd of november as it is month in hand i have engiuerd over geting an advance on my wage and this is not avalable to me. my isue if i have been given my final jsa witch was only £25 as i started work 2 days after my last sign on date and today recived a job grant of £100 so a total of £125 after i contacted the job center to ask for more i was told that was all i get i cant get to work pay my food and bord until the 28th of nov on £125.
my weekly bus pass is £19.00 pw
 acomadation £40 pw
 food £30 pw
total £89.00 pw basic cost to live and get to work
as it stands by Friday this week i will have used the £125 given to me and will then have no mony unitl nov 28th.
also my dad is unable to lend me the mony. is thier anything i can claim as it whold be higly anoying if i had to inform my employer that i am unable to get to work due to not haveing any mony for bus fare etc. i have spoke to my local jobcenter and thier reply was you shold be able to survive for a month on the £100 you was given even after i provided them with bank statements to show that mony was ONLY spent on bord and lodge and 1 weeks travel to work so in efect i need another £534 from sumwer to get me trough to pay day.
my bank wont give me a short period loan due to being unemployed for so long and i have also been refused from a pay day loan provider for the same reason.:mad:0
