Credit Report Questions

Hoping someone can answer a few questions for me about stuff on my credit report that doesn't make sense;
1. Why did Natwest make two searches for a CC for just one application? Is that correct & how does it impact my record? I imagine the extra search doesn't help!
2. Where it shows my bank accounts, for two of the months, it shows a balance - Is that meant to mean overdrawn? As I've not actually been overdrawn before on this account.
3. Why does Insurance Quotation constitute a search? - Are they considered when you apply for credit? I've been getting quite a few quotes for Car & Home Insurance - don't want it to make me look worse.
4. Unrecorded Enquiry - What is this?
Thanks in advance guys, just some things that jumped out that I really didn't understand. Not even entirely convinced the balances shown monthly for my two CC's is even correct.

1. I assume that one would be a full search and the other a 'soft search' which would have given you a guide APR and credit limit before you applied? A soft search will not impact your credit file.
3. Insurance quotes etc will also be soft searches so again wont have an impact on your credit file.
I'm sure someone else will be able to help shortly on 2 and 4, I have an idea at the answers but wouldn't like to say 100%
