    This always amuses me..

"I hope you don't mind me copy and pasting a whole load of info I gained from clicking on the link to the comp you provided in the OP"

Anyone can click a link, read about the comp and enter it, so why bother with C/P?

I always thought that this was done so we have a copy of the T&Cs (or at least relevant parts) just in case they are no longer available on the site after the comp ends..
Helps if peeps have issues with the prize. :)
Also helps us lazy compers ---- I look at whats pasted and decide whether to enter or not. ;)
Thanks to those that post the comps!!

That's why I do it... Because the info often goes when the comp ends.

Prize details are great if I get an unexpected prize through the post and don't recognise what's in it.

Nope, no apologies from me for posting extra info, and I love it when others do. As compers we should all care about the Ts and Cs, and what we are actually entering to win... Otherwise we risk winning something we won't use (eg when title says "Skin products", or getting disqualified for doing something wrong.

This thread seems to be throwing up some real evidence of lack of agreement with things that have always been done (even when I was a lurker for years).

I must say I do that but it's usually when there is just the link in the op and if I had known a bit more about the competition I wouldn't have bothered clicking through ie meal in a restaurant miles away, holiday for one to Isle of Dogs or a dress in a child size.

On one occasion having the T&C pasted was very handy when I prize I won missed a bit out as I could then say what should have been included.

Am always glad to see the T&Cs on the thread if it's a holiday competition as so many exclude "Peak periods," i.e. School holidays- even those billed "Family!"

If I've actually clicked through to the site and find they've added this to the T&Cs I then have to spend extra time sending them a ranty email! LOL!

    My pet hate:

"I've sent a PM to Glad"

Would you prefer that no name was mentioned so maybe :

    Pm sent to a BG

Or does that not sit well either?

Personally I post such as "I will pm a BG" & then later follow with such as "Sent to Glad".
This confirms that the dupe has been noticed & is a reminder that a BG pm has been sent.Plus there is "traceability" so if the merge has not been done in a few weeks I know that I did send a pm and who it was sent to.

Totally agree, I try to post useful things I spot on the comp page / Ts and Cs which I think are likely to be important to people and which may influence their decision on whether to enter. I like when other people do it too as it saves me time.

But all the comp info and terms are just a click away, C/Ping saves a few seconds of time for the user :)

Not always after the competition has ended.
