Can a person be the main driver on two insurance policies?

Thought I'd ask here as I have no idea about the legalities of this. My sister has dad as the main driver of her car, with me and her as named drivers. She did this as it was a damn site cheaper for her with her only just passing.
Anyway, now i've got a job I'm looking to be getting a car hopefully soon but after getting quotes the minimum i'm looking at is £700+ a year. Sister's is only £450 because of having dad as the main driver.
So i'm wondering if it's legal to have dad as the main driver on two policies? I always thought it wasn't but i've read people saying it is. Confused.

What you are talking about is Fronting and will result in the policy being voided, you being liable for any claims and all future insurance potentially being many times the prices you are seeing now!
To answer the underlying question, yes you can be the main driver on as many policies as you are actually the main driver for. So if you were a single playboy millionaire with a dozen cars you'd be the main driver on all of them.
Evidently in your case you are trying to defraud the insurer by falsely declaring your father as the main driver - that is the issue not the fact hes the main driver on multiple policies0 -
Fronting is a form of fraud and if the police find out you're doing it then you're going to have a bad time. The insurer could well reject any claim or even worse come after you for the third party's costs which could be ruinous. Don't do it.0

As above, it's fronting and illegal
I don't know how old you are, but 700 for a new driver really isn't that bad
It is regularly 1000's for a lot of people0 -

I've been driving over 7 years, i'm 29 and by the time i get a car it will be 8 years.
I did have at least 1 years NCB before i got rid of my last car, can i use that even though i don't have the documents to prove it?0 -
Most insurers ask for proof of NCD.
Contact your previous insurer and ask them for a copy of the proof (assuming it's within the last 2/3 years).0 -
Sounds like your sister is fronting and you want to do the same. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

As has been said...
Can you be the main driver on more than one policy? Yes.
Can you be the main driver on a car that you are not the main driver of? No.0 -

My sister pays the insurance and it is her car but I have said nothing to suggest dad is not the main driver. They both use the car as much as each other before anyone starts throwing any accusations around.0 -
Then you have no ncd to use now.0
