Setting up cctv

Hi after another brake in I am wanting to set up some cctv. I have had a look on the net and the ready made set ups seem quite expensive with mixed reviews.
I am looking for a 2 or 3 camera set up with night recording. It does not need to be fancy or even brand new. I was thinking of buying a hard drive recorder and connecting cameras to it if it can be done.
What are my options so I can set it up cheaply but effectively.

this has been covered quite a few times here, so do a search and many of your questions will be answered.
Also, if you still need help, you need to mention the scenarios of where and how they will be used, paint us a picture of your vision.0 -
If you have a reasonable spec pc then another option is to get a couple of small bullet cameras with in-built IR (bear in mind their range won't be the best) and a suitable video capture card for your pc. There was a four-channel card on Amazon for £30 last week(I don't use ebay so not aware what thye go for on there)
Aldi were doing some external IR cameras for under £20 each a couple of weeks ago and although the view was quite wide angle they had a reasonable image.
Or Maplins/Screwfix sell external IR cameras for around the £60 mark which unless you have a decent budget will suffice.0 -
Have installed these, ebay, amazon, b&q
Sold internals and bought 2 extra external so 4 covering all sides etc
Easy setup and cheaper than most.
