Facebook rant!!!

Boris, I understand - I've had a 'fake' FB since it first came out (I used to have a thing about putting my real name on the Internet), so I chose that for my comping one. Someone had a go at me the other day, calling me fake, and of course, I couldn't prove otherwise as I only have one friend on it and a made-up photograph. I hate FB privacy, and only use a locked Twitter for social networking, so this 'spare' account that I didn't use for years morphed into my comping one. Back when I first signed up, everyone was calling themselves daft names on it, and uploading silly pics, the rules are much more stringent now. I'm not happy about the idiot that ripped into me (it could have been explained to me, rather than having a go) but it has made me think about companies assuming people such as ourselves aren't 'real', or something to do with fiddling entries. If my account gets closed, so be it, but I'm very uncomfortable about using my real name (I use my middle name) on FB as there are people in my past that I do not want to contact me under any circumstances.

As you say, you can't 'sense the tone' in the written word. I don't think anything said was meant as a personal attack on you, so carry on enjoying your comping and keep your fingers crossed that Facebook let you keep one or both of your accounts as unfortunately they have been known to close both when duplicates are discovered

I agree with Barnabysue Jenny. This subject is brought up time and again and there are plenty of other peeps with 2 accounts. Personally I find one is enough.

At this point, I don't really care any more if they close both my accounts!! So maybe this was a useful thread afterall!!

I will consider everything that people have said. Like RecoilShunt, I set this account up ages ago when the rules were less strict, and it just made sense to use it, but I just don't know any more.

Aw, please don't be put off using the compers chat corner. You opened a good and useful thread. And BTW, if you are being a bit sensitive, you're not alone there. There aren't many of us feel that comfortable when we sense disapproval. But in the end, what counts is what you think and feel about it. Take everyone's opinions and views, and then make your choice. If you drop the second account don't do it because you feel attacked, do it because you've been persuaded. And if they haven't convinced you, then do it your way - preferably with a big grin. We're talking about entering comps, not murdering babies.

I honestly don't know where I stand on the rights and wrongs of all this, but I know you shouldn't feel attacked for your views. I honestly don't think anyone meant anything that way anyway. But then, I have felt sensitive about things too sometimes. It's goes with being a human bean

My suggestion is to immediately start another thread and get positive again. Have another {{{{{HUG}}}}}

I use my facebook account for comping and like to add people so I can share contests with etc. I was told off for adding people I didn't know after someone reported me by clicking the not now - i do not know this user button. Frightened me alot

I have one account, it used to be called Emiai MSE but I also changes it to my real name Rach Lines after reading about banning of accounts. I was not investigated, it just took a while to come into effect. Good luck. Feel free to add me if you like. x

Thanks for people's comments - they really cheered me up!

I decided to close my account yesterday afternoon, as it just felt like too much stress and hassle. Life is stressful enough at the moment, and comping is a great way to escape that, so I want to keep it that way!

Anyway - going to stay positive, and move onto the next thread. And maybe try to avoid starting any controversial threads in the future!
