OS Daily - Wed 10th October 2012 Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 10th October. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Seems very cold here this morning, winter is well on the way, I have done quite well with my xmas shopping too :T

Off to work today, so little os for me until tonight, dinner will be a chilli and rice, I made double spag bol base the other day, so will just have to chilli it up and cook rice.

DD got the job :T, she had a summer job with the first lot, and had applied to matalan months ago, anyway the summer job is still going on, (they keep calling her in to cover weekends) and she has now been offered a 2nd job with matalan, she explained to the manager that she would have to fit the 2nd job around the first, but she seemed happy enough, I suppose lots of students must do it, my only slight worry is that she will get too tired, she is at college, with massive amounts of homework, she volunteers at a charity 2 days a week, and is then working most weekends and evenings, ah well she is very young, and we can only try it and see how it goes, I am very proud of her work ethic though

Hoovered top to bottom yesterday, and gave the bathroom and kitchen a good clean.

Morning everyone

Having a few words with the big guy today - sis is going back to hospital today hopefully to have her postponed heart op x

Hugs to those that need/want them that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x

Managed to get tickets for myself and DH for a concert that we've been desperate to see, and also managed to get the best seats we could afford, we're in the front sections, so am really chuffed and looking forward to it - it's our xmas prezzies to each other!

Dull and cloudy and a real nip in the air here this morning, DH up and now off to work.

Was expecting a telephone call last night regarding the "situation" but heard nothing - so we'll speak to the those necessary tonight and find out what the current position is and then we can make an informed decision as to what we want to do - I'm guessing that as they've done before they've blown up and now had a day or 2 to think about what they've done and realised if they try to accuse people they don't actually have any evidence to back up their claims, so then they look really stupid, this is the third time they haven't got what they want and have made accusations, been verbally abusive and made threats against others. It isn't why we're involved and everyone is just getting fed up with it as we're all decent honest people that give their time freely to a mutually enjoyable hobby - we'll see what the situation is later no doubt!

Dinner last night was spag bol, was a bit of a rush to get it prepped, and cooked as once I'd got home; the phone didn't stop ringing, nothing of any major importance but just constant interruptions! Remembered to get beef out of freezer for stew and dumplings that we're having tonight, we'll have mash and veg with it too.

Only working until lunchtime today as it's my short day, then I'm on days off until Monday. Have busy afternoon today and all day tomorrow as DH and I are going away Friday morning so I lose a day - so everything I normally do has to be squeezed into tomorrow - will do my best but now don't get myself in such a state about not getting it done, I just do the best I can.

Morning all, dull but dry here so morning walk was pleasant with the animals. Off to school in a minute, have my performance management review which will probably send me over the edge, I just want to teach not jump through higher and higher hoops to please the Govt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rant over, hope everyone has a good day.Well done to your daughter RR my DD has a good work ethic too and is really desperate to have a job, she has an interview on Monday so fingers crossed. Hope you found your purse Rosyred, those dogs sound lovely LW very jealous of you uolypool and RR being so organised with Christmas. Monnagran I keep thinking of Lou too and hope things are going well. Morning everyone

Picked up H's new to us car last night. Started to drive to petrol station and it ran out of fuel. Fortunately we were yards away but boy cars are heavy to push :eek:

We definitely have Harvest Festival this morning. After that back to decorating. H needs to do a run to the tip too.

Tea will be spicy sausage pasta I think, unless I change my mind

Right sorry for minimal OS, must go and put BM on. Been buying small loaves from Aldi and whilst they are nicer than the stodge of kings mill etc they're just not as nice as HM.

I'm feeling pretty organised myself for Christmas will try and pick up some more pressies today. Had a big trying on session for OH yesterday and have my holiday clothes in some kind of order. its made me realise how little warm winter clothes I have so will try and get a couple of jumpers today.
No idea whats for tea will be something quick, maybe bacon and egg.
Best get on I want to catch the early train. Just need to play mum and dad at words with friends. Since they got their ipad they are obsessed and have a lot more time than me. If I dont play immediately they nudge me:eek:

Main aim for today is to stop anone telling me what happened in the Great British Bake Off, I went dancing instead of watching it last night and that is my treat for this evening.

OH cooked a gammon at the weekend and we are having some of that with pasta for tea.

Middle of the week yay. Cold start but dry, think today is the last dry day though

Not dressed yet :eek:but have been working in my office for a while. Printer has been playing up and have wasted loads of time trying to sort it, once done the rest of the stuff wont take long then I will go and try and make myself decent.

Housework this morning then off to the gym :eek: hopefully will come back with loads of energy so I can start deep cleaning the lounge, if not wont be too devastating if I have a little sit down.

Chilli or spag bol for dinner tonight.

Morning all, chilly here as well.Only a tiny bit of washing in the basket so that can wait till tomorrow.
Yay I once again have a working dishwasher. My brother wouldn't take any money for it and I actually think he was insulted that I offered. So they are coming for lunch on Sunday as a thank you, so will roll out the works and make a roast as his girlfriend isnt a very good cook and doesnt make them. Need a nice pud as well, going to do roast beef and all the trimmings so any ideas on a pud that will go as well.

Am doing some baking as the tins are empty much to ds3 disgust.

Dinner is chicken wrapped in bacon and something I havent decided on yet.

Have to sort out some bits for 3 of my godchildren to take in for harvest festival , their mum doesnt really tend to give stuff for things like that so they are going to raid my pantry or as they call it Aunty Louises shop.Will imagine they will stay for dinner as well.

Well must go and clean the lounge windows as woofer has left smudgy marks all over them where he sits looking out of the window when Im not here.

off to work later, got training on healthy eating - especially for good bowels and portion control. I like this kind of training, if things had been different I'd have quite liked to be a nutritionist or dietician.

Have had a good clean through and changed the bed. Weather awful so washing is hung indoors.

Am having a coffee then making a batch of veggie lasagnes.

RR well done on you DDs job My DGS Ben is still waiting to hear from Iceland about his paret time job he has had his second interview but there were only two P/T jobs available and they had over 22 applicants ,still fingers crossed.Its only 7 hours a week but with his paper round it will top up his money a bit.He is saving to go to Reading pop festival next year with his pals so every penny helps
The sun is out but its very chilly here in Kent ,I did a line of washing and got it out I don't think it will dry much but at least it will get a bit of a blow to freshen it up.

I have been shopping from my freezer for the past few days to save me going anywhhere near the shops.They were saying on the breakfast news that food prices will rise this winter as there has been a bad harvest for the farmers with the appalling summmer we had .It seems all a bit doom and gloom at the moment .I am only buying whats actually needed indoors as I run out of things .No point spending cash unnecessarily at the moment
