Am I being over cautious?

I've recently sold something on ebay for the first time. The buyer has paid me via Pay Pal, and my Pay Pal account says that the money has been received.
Is that it now?
Am I safe from being ripped off by someone?
I'm guessing that once the money shows in my account then it's mine. But then I worry that if someone used a dodgy credit card the money could later be removed.
Complicated!
In other words, at what point in the process do I know it's safe to send the bought product. The auction ended yesterday, so I need to be sending the goods pretty soon.
Any help much appreciated.

I send items I've sold when the money has arrived in my paypal account. However, this does not guarantee it's safety. To do that you have to move it to your bank account, but the problem is that that takes a few days and you'll get charged if it's below £50. I expect most sellers on here will tell you to send it out now and withdraw any money from paypal once it reaches £500

I just send stuff out when I receive the Paypal payment. What is the buyer's feedback like? If other people have rated him as a good buyer than you can feel a bit more confident.0

Like Hermia I always ship as soon as I receive paypal payment, buyers expect that.
I've feedback in excess of 1500 now in total and have never had a problem with a paypal payment.

Many thanks for your advice.
The amount is just over £50 so I'll send the item, and withdraw the money.
Cheers everyone!something missing0 -
As a buyer who always pays via Paypal immediately the auction ends I expect the seller to send my goods within 48 hours (if not sooner, but I'm impatient like that LOL!) unless they have already stated in the listing that they use specific posting days (as some do) then I know exactly when to expect it

Is it not the case that if you wthdraw all money from your paypal account and someone does a chargeback then the money will be withdrawn from your bank account or credit card that you register with paypal?0
