Ideas for Xmas and new year

Fancy going abroad this year and want to book soon.

The criteria are:

Two adults and two children , somewhere hot enough to swim outside.
3 to 4 four flight maxium. Not really touristy but not too quiet. Like to explore more than sun bath so need some interesing places to visit.
Not kean on the Caneries. Many places in europe won't be hot enough that time of year.
Any ideas please ?

Your vey limited to where you can go in Europe in December that is hot and with a 3-4 hour flight.
    Another option is Egypt?

Never been to Cyprus in December but from what i can gather it can be very mixed.I have read reports about it being cool and rainy and others where the temps have got into the mid 20s.

with the canaries, your more or less guaranteed the weather, thats the only thing. With everywhere else it's touch or go. We've spent the last 2 Christmas's in Lanzarote, and the weather has been a mixture, it has never really been cold though, temperature is about the early to mid 20's. We've had a few days rain, but still not cold when it's been raining. We're thinking of trying Egypt ourselves this year for Christmas and New Year though, i've had a look at the temperature there and it is about the 20's also.

No, Cyprus is extremely hot in summer, but quite cool in winter, they even have sking in the centre.

The ONLY place that close & warm is the canaries & even then I doubt it will be hot enough to swim outside - not in an unheated pool or the sea anyway.

The Costa del Sol is also susposed to be quite mild that time of year.

But if you want hot, you will need to go further or do the canaries & cross your fingers.

My Brother went to Cyprus last year at Christmas and froze.

How about Agadir in Morocco about as far south as the Canaries. Or Madeira which is a little North of the Canaries.

I like Morroco and Tunisia but even they will be a bit on the cool side.

    Thanks. They look interesting.

I think Cape Verde is a bit on the undeveloped side, if you like that kind of thing great, but I've heard it will be great in 5 - 10 years.

Also I've read it VERY windy in the winter.
