Haven't been up that way for a while now, which I am grateful for as I hate driving around Bradford, but I'm familiar with that one yes. It seems to work pretty well.

As for why L3 has the lest traffic. I have noticed over the years that there is a significant minority of drivers out there that will consistently enter a roundabout from lane N-1 where N is the correct lane for their intended exit. Maybe that is why L3 is more clear?

This guy has been taught at the Jeremy Clarkson School of Motoring. He brags about never using the left hand lane.

The shouty driver must be one of those chaps who thinks that you never use the left lane until immediately before the exit that you want. I think that I've heard about that syndrome.

I think maybe that you're saying that drivers should indicate because they are going round a roundabout even when they're not changing lanes. Do you apply the same rules on the open road? e.g. indicate a RH turn when the road bends around to the right?
One day you might realise roundabouts don't have the same rules and shouldn't be treated the same as lanes on the open road. Read the highway code particularly the references above.

Roundabouts come in a variety of designs and so it's impossible to come up with a single recipe - commonsense is required. In the case of the roundabout shown in the aerial photo. the "crime" was not that the red line car was in the LH lane of a roundabout = it wasn't on the roundabout but it was blatantly in the wrong lane for entry onto the roundabout.
Blatently :rotfl:You were talking about situations with inadequate signeage etc, where you don't know which way to go. If someone isn't sure, then by sticking right they play safe and the worst case is they have to loop the roundabout. Your "keep left if unsure" rule is dangerous.
In the case of double lane exits, yes there is the potential for a collision and any newbie would be advised to keep in a lane further to the right.
    Excellent, some progress!
