Please help if you can-have 2 PCs & been using above Wireless connection for a month now-no bother.A couple of days ago, kids reported getting logged out of MSN frequently & PC going slow-tried surfing myself & had probs so did a full scan incase of virus(nothing there).
Have done speed tests on Madasafish(MY IP) & these are coming out at 0.15/ 0.28 etc when orig speeds were 1.97/ 2.47 or similar.
Having same prob on both PCs & have spken to M/fish tech supp, who have asked for usual checks-change filter/plug directly into main BT socket(had to move PC etc into hall!!) try BT test socket etc, also have powered off Router but still the same.
M/fish are now escalating to BT but I am worried incase there is something wrong with router & I have to pay BT£80 call out-is this possible &/or how can I check??? Had mega probs with Orange last year when couldnt get onto Internet at all for 6 weeks or more & was fed up with their repeated line tests to establish fault-turned out that Speedtouch modem had developed fault & a replacement solved problem. Any advice please?

Unplug your router for 30 minutes and then reboot and retry speedtests.
Onother thing to try is to connect one of the PCs to the router via ethernet cable rather than wireless and do the speedtest to see if the wireless is the problem (unlikely).

Can you borrow another router and set up only one pc to see if that improves things if it does introduce the second pc and go from there0

Make sure a microfilter is fitted to EVERY phone socket in the house.
Also download the latest firmware for your router from netgear support page. This is not an automated signature. I write this at the bottom of every message0 -
Thanks folks-have tried rebooting before but didnt wait 30 mins, so will try that. Router is connected using Ethernet (dont know why but someone set it up for me). Will try & borrow another Router from same person also, thanks again.0

Only one phone socket in use thanks, will go to netgear site & look for downloads now before rebooting router. Thanks0

thanks-the person who set it up works in a Computer shop & made it secure(same as encrypting?)
Speed the same whatever time-Madasafish can see when line drops & it happens during the night aswell0 -
How long have you had the router? If you've checked out everything else already mentioned, consider it might be a faulty router - I've had that happen before and the router itself turned out to be the problem!0
