Turf in South London

Hi, We're looking to turf our garden. I'd like it to last so I need good quality, but also of course, best price. Any ideas where is good to get some - I've been told by a few people we might get it cheaper this time of year. We're in Streatham, SW London. Would prefer it to be delivered as I only have a small car. Happy to buy online.

I cant help with where to buy it but the reason they say you will get it cheaper at this time of the year is because its likely to die shortly after being laid due to the cold weather!

Hi Ant, actually, pretty sure general advice is that October one of best times of year to lay turf as then it stays damp and is more likely to take. At least, that's what it says in both my gardening book and on bbc gardens website!

Oh .. then you are right and my MIL is just rubbish at gardening as she has just had a lawn laid (good job she didnt ask me for advise, lol) and apparently its looking like death already!

Chances are she has once again chosen the wrong people for the job (she has form!!) and they have sold her rubbish turf or she really just cannot do her research and look after something!
