Arrrrrrggggg

Maybe i`m being harsh,[and im sure some of you guys will think i am] but i`ve just had my umteenth seller try to cancel a purchase because mother was ill then died. That brings my grand total to 10 this year whose child/parent was ill/died on an item i got for a song.
Thing was i was prepared to go quite high for the item, but there were no other bidders so only paid a fraction of its worth. I paid and waited for the cancelation, sure enough less than a hour later get a message and a cancellation request .
Is it just me or do sellers seem to be doing this a lot these days?
Please dont get me wrong im not a cold hearted so an so and do sympathise with other peoples horrible situations but am now finding it increaseingly difficult because it only seems to happen when an item goes for less than its worth...
Sorry peeps rant over/

  • OK, so let's say their mother has died. Why does that stop them selling the item?

Play them at their own game and email them back:-

I'm sorry to hear your news and understand that you have other priorities at the moment. Therefore, I'm more than happy to wait a couple of weeks for the item to be despatched while you sort out your mother's funeral arrangements etc.

Quite frankly, having had my Father die a few months ago, whilst there is a lot to sort out, I can't say that it stopped me doing other things. In fact, doing other things helped me during that time!

Tbh i did exactly that although i have to say nowhere near as eloquently as you put it. I was prepared to wait and said so in messages a couple of times but seller was insistent on canceling.
Even down to the fact seller marked item as unpaid manually in ebay to make it appear as if i had been refunded and kept asking me to cancel without actually refunding me..

Yes, this is really annoying. If they want a particular price for an item, why don't they just up the starting bid or put a reserve on it?

I totally agree this is frustrating. Happened to me with both sellers and buyers that have changed there mind I think.
Had one occasion when we'd 'won' something for 99p, worth about £20+. We were really surpised the seller didn't back out. However, after we had trevelled around 50 miles to collect, no one was in - I tink I would have prefered and excuse!!
