It is a bad idea to keep re-applying and more than 2 searches in 6 months is seen as negative BUT if you have to wait 6 months anyway, I would make a third application now using your old address. Worst case scenario is a decline and then 3 searches on your report now but in 6 months, you'll have 0 searches in the last 6 months whatever you do. Others will disagree with this strategy but if I were in your shoes and really wanted the account, I would try it.
Also, check your Experian and Equifax credit reports and find the 2 searches. If they are both on Experian then you could apply for a card that only searches Equifax (search this forum, can't remember which but I think one does). Strangely BOS did not appear as a search on Equifax or Experian so they may be worth a punt.
For reference, I have been accepted on a new credit card account with Tesco, BOS and Nationwide with in the last 2 months so the third search (for Nationwide) was within the same 6 month period as the other two but the application was successful. It's not a hard a fast rule but it is safer to stick to 2 applications in a 6-month period0

I don't think it's a good idea to use an address you don't live there (any more). It could be construed as an attempt to defraud, and you might end-up with a CIFAS (fraud) marker. Then you can kiss credit Good-bye for a very long time.0

I agree although even if you were found out it could be an honest mistake in an application to give your old address rather than an address you've only just moved in to - a bit like driving home to the wrong address after moving house (which I've actually done!) And you would change your address as soon as you were accepted.
I did initially state it was illegal but I then misread this post "I'll be on the new address on the 16th of this month" as the OP not having moved yet but re-reading it looks like this is a reference to the electoral register.
The other issue you have right after moving house is not being at your current address for long enough, even once you're on the register. Less than 2 years is usually a minus point. All the more reason to apply just before you move....0

Unless the 'system' has changed very recently, your ER status will not be reported to the CRAs until after 1st December (and maybe even January). So you shouldn't make any applications until you've verified the CRAs hold this data.mrjaywarren wrote: »Just spoke to them, I'll be on the new address on the 16th of this month.
This is standard procedure at this time of year, ie during the annual canvas of electors (Aug/Sep-Nov).
I could be wrong (but don't think I am), but a quick check of your Council's website should confirm either way.0

Most people's credit ratings do take a dip when moving home because it takes a while for your data to catch up with you. Best in future to avoid applying for new credit for 3 months after moving - no help now I know.
Electoral roll annual canvass updates are a little different this year for some - depends where you live. For people in England and Wales excluding London, the new data should appear on Experian credit reports by the end of the month - which is a little early because of the elections next month for new Police and Crime Commissioners. Updates for people living elsewhere should take place mid-December as usual.
