Secondary glazing options

Hi there,

I am looking into installing some sort of secondary glazing in a small sash window. The frame is stained brown and I want the glazing to not be too obvious and the edging to match the colour of the window frame.

I had originally thought of getting a professional in to do it but I have no idea how much this will cost or what a good quote might be. Then I considered installing it myself. I am reasonable in terms of DIY ability.

The film (cling film type stuff) seems to have good reviews and is the cheapest option. But I have also seen some options where you can use magnetic strips which would enable me to remove the glazing panel in the summer. All these kits though seem to have white strips rather than brown.

The windows themselves are in good nick and were replaced 10 years ago, so I don't want to replace the window.

I would be very grateful for any advice.

Thanks

  • I have tried the film stuff to no avail. I would still value some advice on my options please.

    Thanks
