If I pay a cheque someone's given me (they are with Barclays) into my old Barclays account, does it mean that the cheque will clear instantly given that it's a Barclays cheque being paid into a Barclays current account? FYI the person issuing the cheque, and me, are with two completely different branches of Barclays.
Or will this cheque take the same 3 to 4 working days that any cheque usually takes?

The cheques will go through the cheque clearing system as usual with the normal 2-4-6 timescale.0

years ago 'own bank' cheques could go through more quickly, but it was an easy way of dodgy folks committing fraud, so has been stopped.Getting fit for 2013 - Starting weight 10.1.13 88.1kg

Some banks still do like Lloyds TSB
