My wife has just received her renewal and shock,it's lower than last year.Thought i'd share it with you.

Same here, second time this has happened in 3 years. Shopped around still and only a couple of cheaper quotes but only by £20-£30 and slightly lower level of cover so I stuck with the auto-renewal.

I too was shocked by my renewal quote at the beginning of the year as it was also lower. It was the first time in years that I did not need to change insurers(so much so that I cannot remember who they are due to the frequency of turnover).
I checked the usual suspects to see if there was anyone cheaper and found that ALL of them had gone up with the average increase being a couple of hundred pounds.
I am currently paying £550 but the likes of the AA and Aviva were asking for nearly £3K!!
My renewal is up again at the start of the year and I am not optimistic about getting lucky again but I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

I do hope you phoned the straight away and insist they have it wrong. You want to pay more.. MUCH more.
