Claiming back summer childcare - HELP!

Hi - since a marriage break up I have had to pay childcare for the first time over the summer holidays, as I now work part time. I read the literature and contacted tax credits before it started to let them know and was advised that I was entitled to claim 70% of the cost back.
My childcare provider was registered with CSSIW but they had advised there was a delay in providing the number as they had registered him as a childminder rather than a nanny (their error!). Tax credits said this was OK but would not take any details as they were unable to process the claim without the number. CSSIW have still not provided the number and have apologised and will back date it as it is their falult but I have now discovered that I cannot claim anything back from tax credits as 31 days have elapsed and they deem that I didn't tell them!! At no time was I told this and have been unable to find this in the literature I was sent!!
Please help - any advice would be very helpful!

If you notified them of the change of circumstances and gave a reason for the delay you can appeal the decision not to backdate.Baby Mazza due New Years Day 2013!0
