I'm not sure what you're trying to imply, I manage my money quite fine, you may see flaws in it I'm sure but I could in the way others manage theirs. I'm paid enough to have 3 holidays a year and manage a household... The £30.xx I was supposed to have in my account was there in case I needed it( as a security figure) .... (all my bills and food etc have been paid for). As it happens this month has been rather expensive for me as I needed to pay driving lessons and driving test fees where normally that money would have been spare

I asked for help, I've received it, my rents have helped out so as far as I'm concerned I'm happy as the situation is resolved.

My savings will start again next month where I'll replace my holiday money Ive spent with an additional savings contribution. :D

I don't expect to have to keep my own track on things. I have an excel sheet with my monthly outgoings on so I know what's coming out but since I have the use of a text message service and Internet banking I don't think I should then have to write down everything I spend.

Change your mentality. YOU alone are responsible for knowing what you spend. Only yourself to blame!

Which is why the OP uses the daily text to keep a close eye on balance avaiable....
The issue was the bank systems failed. Had they not then there would have been no issue.

So come on cut some slack here. OP seems to be a dammed good job. Just been let down and does not need to be tared and feathered.

My mentality is fine! I pay to use a text balance service at 10p per text every day if i need to so I am aware of my balance prior to having this service I used to keep a full log of money in money out but for my time it's easier to text a service and have a reply within 10 seconds!

If you read my post further up you will see I said I need to have a look at the way I manage I was not waiving responsibility and that it was my fault too!!!

To be fair I don't have time to write down every transfer, every transaction which is why I manage the way I do!

I don't need you to pull me to pieces on an internet forum

10p a day? I can identify £3 a month in savings you could make!

Well, you do. Really, but I understand why you don't. I certainly don't.

Online banking can help you a lot.

Haha sometimes it's more than one text per day!! :D

I use online banking tonnes, just the co op version doesn't show pending transactions on your balance, but other than that it's great :)

Not pulling you to pieces, just suggesting you open your eyes, take a closer look and see the real problem. Overspending and not accepting it.
