Hi All
am interested in buying this, but need some help.
http://www.usedcarsni.com/98497165
It has a trailer, and is FWD, and am wondering if between the trailer and the van space I can comfortably shift two tonne about with me?
Also, from owners or those in the know, what's this van generally like driving and for insurance?

Cant comment on the van, but that reads very much like a trader selling it, yet hes advertised as private.
Worth checking out if his name is on the log book, how long hes owned it, are you viewing it at the registered address, etc, otherwise you could be buying from someone who is trying to shirk their legal responsibilities.
Mileage seems low for the year, so might be worth asking if theres any evidence that its correct.
Finally, intentionally or not, they've parked the van in such a way as to prevent you from reading the reg, and thus being able to HPI it prior to seeing it. Might be worth phoning and asking for the reg - i am HPI registered and have some 'free' checks available, so if you want i can run it through for you.0 -
Thanks, will try to get those details for you.
The fellow says he runs a textiles business and has been the only owner.
I found this for the stats - not sure of the exact model - but for the medium it comes in at around 1.4T payload - I'm assuming that's what one can put in the back?
Also it says it has a 2 T towing capacity - is this after or with the van's gross payload?

Depending on model it should carry about 1.5t and tow a trailer + payload of up 2t so no problem shifting a 2t. payload.
Very similar to driving a car but with better visibility (just remember it's wider and longer) Can't help with insurance costs.0 -
Not sure about the rules in NI but pretty sure in the UK to use a trailer with this vehicle for commercial purposes you would need a tacho installed as I am guessing it would be over 3500kg in total. You need to consider this first.0

I had a Renault Master for a bit at the start of this year as a "get me out of the !!!!" van. I really wouldn't recommend buying one unless it was very, very cheap. They're troublesome beasts!Yes it's overwhelming, but what else can we do?
Get jobs in offices and wake up for the morning commute?0 -
Good point, may also need an O License. OP might be better sticking to 1.5t payload (but according to skivenov, maybe not with this van):(longtimelurkersam wrote: »Not sure about the rules in NI but pretty sure in the UK to use a trailer with this vehicle for commercial purposes you would need a tacho installed as I am guessing it would be over 3500kg in total. Some Q&A info here0 -
tacho not needed if you work within 60 miles of base and driving/transporting isnt your main job eg landscapers or people with mini diggers they only drive to where they are going to work and drive back
im sure you would only need a trailer license and not a 7.5t or o license0 -
Thanks for help - so I could get a tonne in the back and throw a 2T trailer on as well, as long as my license is up to it?
The no plate is JFZ 8244 if anyone can check out anything re the price on the van.
Cheers.
Now to work out how to filter chippy oil0 -
Gotta be a TROLL right??? Same questions same answers.
Your licence isnt upto it though is it you know that. 3.5ton limit.
So you probably cant tow anything with that van.
Stick to your MX5 or Ka or any small unsuitable small engine hatchback you have mentioned in all your previous posts.
If its a 2 ton van it will probably weigh 1500kg unladen. So it wont carry a ton.
But you could tow a trailer of less than 1.5 tons, Probably carry under 1 ton.
3.5 ton van you probably cant tow anything.
How can someone selling their business van be a private seller?
But your not a business either hahaha...Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
I tested it earlier - brakes, clutch and accelerator all a bit spongy. so I expect after a few k more miles these will need replaced. Has anyone any idea what price it is to replace each of these on a van?0
