Imagine you are a couple leading busy lives, who enjoy the garden. He enjoys feeding the birds and she enjoys brightly- coloured flowers but not the birds so much. Neither of you will grow veg.
Would you be devastated or thrilled to receive a garden planter full of bulbs, seeds, compost and gardening gloves on Xmas morning? Is there anything else that would bring a smile to your face? Anything vital I'm missing?!
I'm planning a gardening hamper for my bro and S-I-L. I'm struggling to think of something to make it really special for them. All ideas welcome!

Thanks, poorly scammo, you've given me lots more ideas there- I may print out some brown envelopes as seed envelopes (:money:) and get one of those organisers as they're just lovely. I hadn't thought of books at all, so I'll definitely have a look for something along those lines for them.
I'm really pleased/ relieved that you all seem keen on the idea- I was a bit worried that it may be a naff gift. I'm quite excited to get started now! They call me Dr Worm... I'm interested in things; I'm not a real doctor but I am a real worm.

I think its a lovely idea. A book on companion planting is good, it might recomend unusual plants for them to try even if they don't veg garden. You can never have two many good seed/plant labels or string. I can recommend some gardening books I enjoy. A propogator for the flower seeds. Or a good trowel/fork. Do they need decorative stakes for the plants they have?0
