I know with my own pressure washer (Kew) there is a definite 'buzzing' (can be tickly) felt through the hand set and my mothers old Karcher has a similar problem. Sometimes playing around with the water pressure may help.

Legal, decent honest and truthful are supposed to relate to claims made in advertising. Retailing is, after all, just an attempt to extract the most profit from the customer. I doubt you will see the relative measurements of handset vibration printed on the side of the packaging of any pressure washers.
I bought a bunch of wood flooring from HB 12 months ago. Bought more 4 months ago. Supposedly the same stuff. It was more variable in colour, it had different machining from the first lot and it had a glossy finish rather than the original matt finish. It was not possible to mix the new batch with the old batch. Now should I ask everytime I buy more of the same "will this match the last lot we bought yesterday/last week/last month?". It was packed the same and in the same bay in the shop. They didn't tell me this up front. They let me get it home to find out.
Can you try before you buy? Are there reviews of the merits of the various washers?
The manager has outright dismissed the customer's view that the washer is faulty as it vibrates too much. This is a purely subjective decision as I bet the manager did not say "bring it in and we'll have a look".
At least by the subterfuge of buying a second washer, you give the shop a chance to say "yeah these vibrate a bit but the XYZ at £50 more is smooth as a piece of green and blacks". If they sell another the same as a non-vibrator then just who is "lying/cheating/breaking the sale of goods act"?????
I forgot to add, Ivan, that knowing what this board is about, doesn't seem to be one of your high points. You seem to make lots of social posts and not too many related to expertise in money saving. Thanks for your opinion by the way.0 -
I would say that you could try and return the pressure washer as being not fit for purpose as it generates too much hand-arm vibration (HAV).
This poses a long-term health hazard, rendering the pressure washer a hazard.
What was the make, model and price paid?
Does the pressure washer or packaging have a hazard label on it warning of hand-arm vibration?
I would return to the same Homebase store and ask for the contact number for their company Health & Safety Manager and see if that does you any good, unless they refund you on the basis of HAV.British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -
Hi there
Just to let you all know, I had another conversation with the manager and took the item back for him to try. I did suggest that I took the other pressure washer as well so he can compare the two. He declined.
Once he tried using the PW that I bought from Homebase he agreed with me that it could only be used for a VERY short period of time (less than 2 minutes was his opion). We agreed that although it cleaned properly it was not fit for the purpose as it should be able to be used for an hour or so without any problems.
He has given me a store credit for the full amount and I will be purchasing something totally different. I will buy another PW from Argos (which ironically is owned by Homebase) that I KNOW doesn't vibrate.
Thank you all for your time and effort.
FYI, IF I had gone back to any Homebase and told them it was faulty (as in not working) aparently they would have plugged it in and tested it. So I'm glad I just went it there and told the truth otherwise I would have looked like a complete fraud - and idiot - if I had done that.0 -

All you can do really is take it as experience and maybe put it on ebay or something.
Then presumably when the poor Ebayer who had bought itcomes to ask what to do with it on here, you say what exactly?0 -

As per your 'killer fact' at the end, I make no secret that I use a different id on the money saving areas of this board ... oh my gosh, that has just blown that entire argument out of the water ... how can I ever believe anything you have to say again

well said, time and time again I see posts suggesting all sorts of silly ideas about buying another item to return, lying about where you bought an item from, telling retailers items delivered have scratches to get discounts, etc, etc. This is moneysavingexpert.com, not dodgydealsandripoffretailers.com.Baby Milk Action is a non-profit organisation which aims to save lives and to end the avoidable suffering caused by inappropriate infant feeding.0 -

Was beginning to think I was the only one on here who thought the same way sara0 -
It s such a shame when people (like myself) post a question and then arguments start.
FYI The pressure washer was called "Extreme". It certainly was!!!!!
The pressure washer that was really good (as in no vibration) was from Argos but i cannot remember the name of it. All I can tell you is that was very cheap (aparently - about £35).
I think it just goes to show that sometimes the more you spend isn't necessarily corilated to the better the product. (No doubt that comment will cause a stir!!!)
