Legal cover for car insurance - Buy separately?

Personally before buying I would explicitly ask what cover you'd get in a clear case of split liability (you could even give an example of 70/30 in the third party's favour).
Their websites Key Facts are not 100% clear but suggest it is only where they feel it is a case of it being 100% the other parties fault.0 -
Here he goes again.
(Lee Jones originally came here and searched for old threads to spam us with his services - he thinks we are all daft, but we ain't that daft - and we are quite used to seeing cynical spammers tarting up their touting by adding some 'helpful' advice to provide a convenient platform to launch their campaign, and lee jones isn't the first md to think he can pull the wool over our eyes!)0 -

(His original spam has now been expunged), but your requote of it will keep him happy!)0 -

Offer ended 31/7/120 -
Offer ended 31/7/12
Its worse than that - the offer actually expired 1st July 2012 !!
They have run this free cover for several years, each time they place an expiry date on the free cover and each time that date arrives and passes they usually extend it. Suggest if anyone is interested they give the company a bell or send an e mail and i'm sure when they realise that the expiry date shown has passed they will reinstate the offer.0 -
I've had this conversation with Saga this very day....went to renew my comprehensive insurance but the telephone op said I needed to buy legal cover at 26 quid extra because I was not covered if I was hit by a uninsured vehicle......so what's the point of paying for fully comp then?? I don't understand.0
-
because I was not covered if I was hit by a uninsured vehicle
You've been misled or the call center person didn't understand.
Legal cover is to pursue someone for your uninsured losses i.e. what's not covered by your insurance policy e.g. you time off, personal injury, perhaps your clothing etc.
They will ONLY pursue an uninsured motorist if they were likely to get the money back, so if they were an unemployed person on benefits then your legalcover is useless.

If you are eligible to join the Civil Service Motoring Association then cover for you and your spouse/civil partner comes free with membership.
To be eligible, you must have worked for the Civil Service or an organisation that was once part of the Civil Service at some time. This includes, if I remember correctly, the Post Office, BT and, Cable & Wireless.
Alternatively, if a parent, child or sibling is a member that will qualify you.0
