Setting up Direct Debit when applying?

Hi all,

I've just applied for a Lloyds TSB credit card to transfer a balance.

At the time I thought that it wouldn't matter too much about setting up a direct debit at the time when it asked, as if I did, it would be pretty substantial (last push of debt clearance!) and it might not seem so attractive to them.

However, now I'm thinking that by not setting up anything, they may be wary of my application.

Does this matter at all when they consider the application? Or is it just a requirement that the lender has to offer at time of applying, and doesn't affect the application itself?

Thanks

No it doesnt matter at all, they only use the DD for collecting payments through

Sometimes, someone who sets up a DD is classified as someone more serious, who is intending not to carry a balance, but it really doesn't hold much weight, and you could cancel the DD as soon as you got the card anyway.

Its very unlikely to be refused by not wanting to set one up. If you refused to give sort code/account number at all, then it might cause problems at the identity checking stage though.

No, have provided all details required, and balances I want to transfer, but just didn't set up a DD when asked if I wanted to.

Just had the sudden realisation that it might be part of the criteria when they consider the overall application!

Anyway, fingers crossed. Just need one more stretch of 0% interest before the debt is gone forever!
