Boiler and +/- Central Heating cover
I am considering to get a boiler and +/- central heating cover on my house which I bought last year. It was on the Home 200 cover with BG with the previous owner. My boiler is quite old (?15 years) and it is Potterton Netaheat. It is working fine but since it is quite old, I do not want to take chances. I am thinking of going to British Gas.
I am wondering if it is worth taking the central heating cover as well with Boiler cover. Since I was reading the BG policy and it mentions that it would not cover if there is sludge in the system (I think there would be some sludge in heating system since some of the radiators do not warm up completely)
Any suggestions please...
Thanks

I wanted to thankyou a million times but its a shame that I can press the button just once :T

That's so that BG can flog you their very expensive Powerflush...call an independent local GSR RGI.No free lunch, and no free laptop0

uswitch is advertising heating and boiler cover from £10.50 per month. This is on offer at slowly increasing cost and/or restrictions from many of the major energy suppliers. That sounds to me amazing value; has anyone any experience of claims history?

Did you not see the excess of £50 per call out then?No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Potterton Netaheat..? One of the most reliable boilers ever made (after the spacesaver of course). It isnt that old. My boiler is 32 years old and still working fine. I wouldnt sweat about it.
On the subject of boiler cover,it isnt so much about who you pay as it is who comes to fix it.
Dont think that you can pay peanuts and get prompt efficient service from a highly skilled Engineer (with a capital E). There are a lot of hopeless cases in the business now.Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0 -

Doesn't apply to all of them though, scroll down!Be ALERT - The world needs more LERTS0 -
Thanks a lot for all the comments. The BG cover is coming at £18/month for the boiler and controls and £20 for boiler, controls and central heating.
Looking at the u switch link Scottish power is coming as £12.90/month of boiler and controls; might go with it if the feedback is OK. Any experiences with scottish power?
Thank-you again.I wanted to thankyou a million times but its a shame that I can press the button just once :T0 -
Just search the gas and electricity forum with the following words "scottish power boiler cover" That will give you numerous threads giving peoples opinion of them:(0

My personal experience with Scottish Power has not been good.
Their repair contractors couldn't fix a problem for long time and it perhaps messed up my boiler which now needs to be replaced.
Now they are refusing to do anything about it.
Best part - you cant complain as their boiler cover is not regulated by FSA or OFGEM - so their decision is final.
I cant say more as I am contemplating legal action.:j nnnnnnnnn.......0 -
