Hi Everyone,
Sorry if I have posted this in the wrong place, I don't really know what I am doing!
I have been contacted by a company called Debt made easy today. I am hoping somebody may have information about them or experience of their services? They claim to be able to get creditors to accept a reduced sum and get back late charges, ppi and get interest frozen to help achieve this.
I have looked online but don't seem to be able to find much about them! They charge £35 per month and the term Debt elimination was used. Am I right in thinking this is a scam??
Thankyou to everyone that can offer insight.

Don't do it.
If you want to go on a debt management plan, do it with one of the free charities like CCCS which do *exactly the same thing* as the company you mentioned. Our LBM: Dec 2011. DMP started: Jan 2012. Debt at LBM: £41,568
Oct 2012 = Current debt: £40,548.93
Oct 2013 = Current debt: £39.054.70
DMP Support number 424 - Long haul number 3080 -
hello, if you are thinking of doing this please don't , contact either CCCS or Payplan who can both arrange Debt management plans ( which is what thuis sounds like) for free, that way all your debt goes to your creditorsLBM 2 and the OH is onboard sept 12, DMP will start on the 1st November, DFD who cares as longs as it comes:)
1 year down 5 to go and now under 30k and 10% paid off :beer:0 -
Before you sign up with any company that charges have a read up on here. Free organizations like CAB, CCCS and National Debtline will advise you on repaying debts free of charge. You can claim back PPI, etc on your own for free too.0

Just echoing what others have said. The £35 per month you'd have to pay Debt made easy would be better used paying off debt. Good luck by the way!
As DS4215 says you can reclaim PPI yourself. There are template letters on Martin's site.0 -
we are currently with 123 debt solutions to which i also found out today that if you ask them to negociate a settlement they add 12o/o fee ontop, however come Friday i will be talking to payplan as they don't charge. having thought we'd done it right in the first place but has cost us an extra £240 in charges and could have put towards our debt, learnt the hard way.:money:0

Hi
Speak to one of the debt charities and they can arrange a reduced payment scheme for you and will charge nothing.
No debt company or debt charity can guarantee to reduce interest payments or freeze interest, although the creditors are recommended to agree to this. The debt charities will however try to get the interest reduced or frozen.
You can reclaim PPI and late charges using the advice on this web-site and it costs almost nothing to do (£10 and a bit of postage) rather than the 20-35 percent you will lose if the debt company do it.
In practice some people have been worse of when PPI and charges have been reclaimed from creditors by debt companies. The creditor reduces the debt by the amount they agree to compensate and the debt company demands cash from the debtor which they do not have to pay the debt company's fees.If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -

You will find them dead easy to deal with, BUT they may try to push you to consider am IVA (they did with me but I had reasons to reject).
They set up an online account for you , so you can check the payments made and also send them letters from creditors.0
