About Lloyds Visa Debit and transaction

Hello, I was hoping someone could help me on this.
I've been to the local bank but they couldn't help me and I am a bit worried.
Here's the situation. The balance on my card saids £600 but the available fund saids only £10. I know this means that there's a pending payment or transaction and I only have £10 available to use.
But the strange thing is I haven't bought anything worth over £500 in the last few days. The only thing that comes to mind is that I was on holiday the last 3 days to Europe and withdrew a total of roughly £100 via the ATM. The transaction for those 3 days haven't been reflected yet so I'm assuming the difference between the balance and available fund is because of something that was done during the trip.
Now the question is, why can't I withdraw more than £10 from my account? Could this be a scam? If so, should I close down my account ASAP? I've asked the people at Lloyds and all they've said was to come back in a few days when the transaction will have been completed.
If someone could give a good advice, it would be much appreciated. Thank you.

You say you were on holiday.
Did you drive while you were there and buy petrol?
If so pay @ pump in europe will auth for max you can get.
Hire car? Could be outstanding auth in case of damage/return with no fuel etc.
How was hotel paid for?
Could be outstanding auth on your hotel stay.
I'm surprised that the branch could not tell you what was sat at authorisation on your account.
Says a lot about the level of staff.....
I would ring your bank up and ask them to tell you what is sat at authorisation on your account.Never ASSUME anything its makes a>>> A55 of U & ME <<<0 -
Thank you dalesrider for your reply.
Yes, I did drive during my stay at Croatia.
Interestingly, for the car rental, I did use my debit card online to secure the car the day before of my arrival. I also showed them the card on the day of the arrival. But I couldn't use the card at the end(meaning when I returned the car on the final day), so I was forced to use a different card. I am not sure if the bank could auth for max even in that case.
As for other payments during my stay, I paid either by cash or by using other credit cards.
The staff at the brach that I went to was not the kindest of people, to say the least.0 -

.
Odds on its the car hire then.
Should drop off in 14 days from date placed.
Retailer can auth for pretty much waht they want. Your limit is not a rock solid wall that cannot be breached.
But check with phone team @ bank. Who can confirm this.Never ASSUME anything its makes a>>> A55 of U & ME <<<0 -

Dalesrider, thanks once again for your post. I certainly hope that is the case. I'm ashamed to say that I didn't know that a retailer could do that. Would I need to contact the car hire company to ask them to drop off the authorisation hold on my first debit card, or will it be dropped off automatically after a while? I don't want this "hold" to carry on for a extensive period of time since I need to pay for other things as well.0
