Child Tax Credit Advice

My son who is 18 finished education in June 10/06/2012. Officially according to the department of works & pensions he is still in education until 31/08/2012. So he isn't allowed to claim job seekers allowance until September.

But for child tax credit & working tax credit they have different rules they said. So his benefits stopped in June. So from June until September he gets nothing and we lose £500.00 Can anyone tell me if this is correct please?

I don't know about DWP but CTC and CB are correct, they pay until ft education stops, unless he is registered with connexions/careers service or is going into adanced education in Sept (eg. uni).
