Wireless Printer/Scanner to Use with MacBook Pro & iPad

Hi, there are a fair few posts already about wireless printers on this forum which I've read through. I was wondering if there are any particular recommendations for a printer/scanner that will work with a MacBook Pro and iPad please. I quite like the idea of a paper tray rather than the paper feed. I bought an HP Photosmart 7510 which delivers excellent quality prints both photo and text and also works on eFax as well as being a scanner/ photocopier. The printing from iPad and iPhone is seamless and I am very happy with it. No doubt someone else will be along to rubbish the recommendation shortly but all I can say is it was really easy to set up and the results are superb. Bought on offer from Amazon at £99. It does have a biggish footprint And is quite heavy, but I really have no complaints about it so far.

Just out of interest, why would a printer be compatible with a MacBook Pro rather than anything else? Just asking as I'm hoping to get one soon, but wondering if my current printer may not work with it...?

I currently have an Epson DX4200. It may work with the MBP but I am not sure. I wanted to replace it so was checking my options. I guess though it wouldn't matter which laptop you'd be using it with?

Works well on my MBP, PC & iPad.

Think I paid around £42 for it originally.

Your biggest issue will be the iPad. Most will say AirPrint Compatible or iPad / iphone compatible.

Thanks, that's really helpful, appreciated. My laptop doesn't have a disc drive and I've not purchased an external one for it yet. Will I need to download some (or all) of the software in the above link if I wish to use my old printer with it?

Another vote for HP. I have the OfficeJet Pro 6500A which has native support for Airprint - works seamlessly with PC and iPad.

It may then install the driver it needs, though you could set a restore point before installing anything for the printer and uninstall anything which is not needed. You may need to install certain software if you want to run scanning from the laptop but maybe best to ask them using their live chat option during office hours.

Don't mention compatibles if you use those as they stop helping as soon as you do.
