Mr Site website builder

Mr Site at Amazon is now £16.97

I've ordered one, although there may be drawbacks:rolleyes:

The second year you pay £2.49 per month, which i suppose is alright (so long as year three isn't £8.99 a month

I went to the Mr Site site  and looked at their sample websites and did not find one which was without flaws.

Now maybe thats down to the owners .

  • I think that the biggest flaw is in paying so much for such a weak design tool. My current recommendation for people creating "vanity" i.e. personal web sites is to use a blogging tool with a choice of themes / templates.

Pick of the bunch, in my opinion, is WordPress. In addition to writing regular or occasional blog entries you can publish static "pages" using the same theme. It'll cost nothing to give it a go.

If you want your own distinctive URL then use a host such as One and One to register a domain name cheaply and then forward it to your blog site.

There are even advantages in this approach for small businesses and non-commercial organisations - writing and linking between blogs is a recognised search engine optimisation (SEO) strategy, improvising the likelihood of your website content being prominent in search engine results.
And if it all works out, you can transfer content to a proper hosting environment.

i agree with what you say , i have 1and1 as my web host and run a successful business website from there. But when you take into account the cost of a .com domain at 1and1 (£8.99 a year i think) this is quite cheap i suppose. My thoughts were that a small business could do worst.

How do you forward a domain name to a blog/website?
Does this mean that when you load up your blog, your domain name would appear in the address bar?

I'm a newbie at this so any help is much appreciated :D

  • Hi, I used Mr Site to set up my website and whilst I know it could have been done slightly better (for more money) I am really pleased with the results. That is a fantastic price and I would def go for it.

    Easy and cheap

our website at 1and1 was built by our 12 yr old son (now 14:rolleyes: ) He uses HTML:confused: SCRIPTS:confused: and other magic, so any alterations are done by him...

That means next year when he goes away all week to stay at school, where we can't reach him:j we will have to maintain the site:o

Hence our need for another possible solution:D

Anyone can be a 'business' man/woman these days. Just depends if they're successful or not...
