A slow cooker is a good way to combat the "its late and I can't be bothered to cook" attitude that leads to takeaways. I do the chopping and prepping after dinner the night before when I'm not desperate to eat & leave in the fridge overnight. Then get up in the morning, bung it all in the SC, go to work and arrive home to find dinner all ready for eating. No temptation to get a takeaway because a) it would take longer than dishing up dinner and b) dinner would be wasted - harder to tell yourself you'll use it up tomorrow when its already cooked!0

Thanks for all the tips, I really like the one of using 1/2 turkey mince and 1/2 beef. Will def be trying that one!0

Wish my freezer was larger, makes the saving of unused meals harder but I can either take less out of the freezer in the first place or just leave it in the fridge for a couple of days...
I find grated veg goes much further and just chopped up.
Same with cheese. I just grate a whole block and put in a plastic box or bag in fridge and lasts for ages and it's ready to use for whatever you want it for - topping for jacket potato, in a sandwich, top a lasagne etc.

.DD also has two dogs but its rare that they ever get anything from the food table as they have their own food to eat as she cannot feed four growing lads and leave lamb for the dogs.Extra veg makes the meat go that bit further I think. With a leg of lamb costing upwards of 16-18 pounds its far too dear to feed the dogs with
I'm teaching myself this, especially given that I already spend a fortune on their food.0 -

I get 2 boxes ready for the freezer and fill the smaller one with little cubes of cheese, then grate the rest of the cheese and fill the other box with that. There's usually enough left for the fridge for a couple of days or using in that night's dinner. Then I use the frozen cheese straight from the freezer for lunchboxes or sprinkling into sauces, etc.0 -
Well he's gone again, so I guess I really need to cut back everywhere, not just food now.
Thanks for all the replies, will be giving them all a go.0 -

Speaking as someone who's been there, I seriously think being stuck in limbo is worse than having them finally leave. Get to a divorce lawyer, ASAP. You need to ensure that your Errant husband pays his share for your children and that you don't get diddled in the process. I'd also change the locks but speak to your lawyer first because I'm not sure if that is strictly legal. (IMHO, this is the onething worth getting into debt over. My lawyer said that I could always go after him for costs.)
Don't wait.
If you have joint accounts and/or joint assets, your lawyer will advise you about how to get them frozen (to stop him withdrawing all the money) and how to split them equitably. Ditto joint debts.
Don't wait."Be the type of woman that when you get out of bed in the morning, the devil says 'Oh crap. She's up.'
It ain’t what you do, it’s the way that you do it - that’s what gets results!
