ebook businesses on ebay - advice please

Hi everyone,

after reading the thread "a bit on the side" re making a bit of extra cash I decided to look into writing and selling ebooks

I decided to start on ebay and have a look at what is already out there as I'd like my ebooks to be unique so I can keep the resell rights hence making as much as possible! lol

Anyways during my trawl through ebay I have come across a number of sellers offering "ebook businesses" whereby basically they sell you a package to show you how to set up an ebook shop on ebay and maintain it etc.

Some of these are selling for £40.00 a time

What I am wondering, although I am sure I know what the answer to this is already, is are they a scam?? and has anybody on here actually bought one and had any results? I was looking at one where there was a vid of the seller logging into his ebay account that showed he had made £500+ in 24 hours. I suspect I'm probably just being a sucker (as I usually am with these things) but can you really make that much cash from selling ebooks, and are these things worth buying??

And if, as I suspect, they are not worth buying does anyone have any advice on starting an ebook business on ebay please???

any advice would be appreciated thanx!!

I never understand why people pay money for ebooks. Most, if not all, are available for free!

    Hi Claire,

You should get more help with this on the ebay board so I'll move your thread over there.

If you go to https://www.floodle.net somewhere on the list is an ebook webstore template.

You will never make money on it. Most of the ebooks are rubbish and there are a million other people selling them. The seller vid is a scam, there are so many ads on Ebay 'I make this per month, aren't I great, I want you to be as great as me'.

I'm not being funny but have you actually tried? Last year I was making around £200 a month (profit) selling bog standard eBooks from one of the above mentioned packages. I wrote my own and made upto £1000 a month on eBay from it because it was unique and it's methods worked.

You'll make max about £200 a month if your buy one of these how to make money selling eBooks packages if you do everything properly. I'm personally a member of John Thornhills site you'll find him on eBay by searching for username planetsms. His site goes into many other methods of making money form the net such as affiliate marketing which is what this site does. (this site earns around £10,000+ every month from affiliate marketing).

Many eBook sellers make money on the back end through affliate links. This is where they often write their own eBooks which have related links in to other products and services. The example on this site is if you get a credit card through this sites comparison area this site may earn upto £40 for each application. So therefore someone writing an eBook on a similar thing would make the same. They'll often gives these things out free as they want as many people as possible to read them so they can make money in the way above.

Another example from this site is when someone goes to the dvd rental free trial section if someone signs up to lovefilms free trial from here this site gets £17.50 just for someone signing up for the free trial. Basically eBooks do a similar thing to make money hense an often low price for selling them or giving them away free.

The long and the short of it is yes you can make money selling eBooks and then more from back ends sales such as the ones I've mentioned above. You just need to know what your doing. Like I say John Thornhill does a good job in going through it all on his site if it's something your interested in trying it out.

Sorry but I would have to disagree with the above.

Content is the key. If you are writing an ebook on how to lose 14 stone in a day then maybe people will buy it, but I don't think people are going to buy '101 recipes to make with smarties and a cream bun.' These ebook stores which the OP is talking about sell loads of the tosh found on floodle and ebookcabi. They were probably informative when they were written in like 1997.

With affiliate links, anyone who is able to order and read an ebook is likely to understand places like Quidco and Rpoints. Why should they click on an affiliate link when they can go to a cashback site and get most of the money for themselves?

If the OP buys an ebook store, how are they going to make their store stand out from the other one million out there? How are they going to get customers there? They will spend more on hosting than the actual sales they will get?

Hmm but have you tried? I have and know. Is your answer a guess?

A couple of points. Don't sell tosh. It's obvious what is and what isn't. I made my money from only 25 eBooks specially chosen.

I can tell you've never tried to promote anything as an affiliate! How about promoting cashback sites that pay about 70p per lead then instead! I did this and made about £500 a month. It's called thinking outside the box. You almost had the answer in your post above but couldn't see it. It's just a case of using that sort of method all the time. In other words know who your promoting to.

Your latter point simple. Look and do something different. It's surprising how easy that actually is to do. From your above post it seems you make trying to make money difficult (assuming of course you've tried). Just make it easy. I do and I make money.

There is a section of an Internet Marketing forum which has a review section for Internet Marketing products. Internet Marketers who have brought things often post a review. Have a browse through, you'll soon see what people think is good and what people think is bad.

    http://www.warriorforum.com/forum/forum.asp?FORUM_ID=61

In amongst all of the reviews you'll come across eBook/Affiliate Marketing products that have been reviewed.
