Hi
Was advised to try this board about my housing benefit problem
I got a letter from my local council the other day asking for £100.76 rent arrears, from when I moved out of the property 7 years ago. Shortly after I moved to my current address I got a demand for 2 weeks council tax, as I had only given 2 weeks notice when I moved, instead of 4, so they wanted 2 weeks of me as I was longer getting CT benefit. I paid up as they sent a balliff round twice! Now 7 years later I get a rent arrears one so I'm presuming its the same reason as I didnt owe them any money when I left. Do I have to pay this? I have never heard a thing from them until now.

Yes, you do. There is no limit to the amount of time that the council can demand money from you.Gone ... or have I?0
