Well i just wanted to update you to let you know that on Saturday he was given the all clear at the vets and after 10 months is finally off the medication. The vet said that the blood readings he took on Saturday are now those of a dog with a normal liver so everything is pretty much back to normal, one of the readings is really high still (Lipase - to do with the pancreas/intestines) but the vet is hoping this is because Milo ate a rabbit 2 weeks ago. He needs to have his blood test done again in 3 months just to make sure his body is still managing without the tablets but I was over the moon. He can also come off the Milk Thistle (which I'd taken him off anyway about 3 weeks ago as he was getting slightly hormonal - if you know what I mean ). Just makes you wonder how long he had been ill (without any signs showing) as its taken 10 months to get him well again. So lucky to have my boy fit and well again, and to have found such amazing vets.

Excellent news. I'm hoping my pony's next bloodtest will show that her liver has improved. As well as special diet, she's been on milk thistle, tumeric, and nettle, except I stopped feeding nettle when I saw she was happily munching on the nettles in the field.DONT BREED OR BUY WHILE HOMELESS ANIMALS DIE. Yes a wild rabbit - I live in a detached rural farmhouse with lots of wildlife - unfortunately my cat catches the rabbits and brings them into the garden (or they come in of their own accord) - not sure where this one was and didnt see it (or him eat it) but I'm guessing it wasnt a fresh one as whatever he sicked up smelt rank!!A home is not a home ..... without a dog

So does eating a wild rabbit damage the dog then?0 -
Its not good for them - its all to do with the pancreas etc - his Lipase reading has only increased since the cat started bringing rabbits into the garden - I'm really careful about what I give them now ie when Milo first came out of hospital he was having his tablet hidden in some chopped ham/port (you know the tinned stuff Spam) - this is really bad for them and can cause pancreatitis - my vet said the biggest cause is the gammon ham bones that families have at xmas.A home is not a home ..... without a dog
