Housing Benefit

Hi,
My employment contract ended in August and my partner is currently unemployed. We put in a joint claim for JSA on 1st September which has been approved and we have been receiving. When we went to Job Centre they also put a claim in for us for council tax and housing benefit.
We then received a letter on the 17th September asking for tenancy agreement, proof of JSA and my partners bank statements (as its in his name) from the local council regarding housing benefit. We were asked to return by the 10th October. We had to wait a bit for the JSA entitlement letter to come through but I posted all the evidence plus a bank details form on the 26th via first class recorded delivery.
We still haven't heard anything from them so I tracked the letter on the royal mail website and it says 'We have your item. Item number ****** was posted at *****(address of post office) on 26/09/2012 at 13:58 and is being progress through our network for delivery'
Does this mean it hasn't even got to the benefits office yet? And if it hasn't, and it hasn't been delivered by the 10th will that mean our claim won't be processed?
sorry for the long post!

Sometimes they forget to update their computer systems so I'd phone the PO tomorrow to ask for an update on the whereabouts of your letter.
I'd also contact the LA just to double check it got there too.
If it has gone astray you have proof of posting so it should all be sorted out no problem, hope you sent copies or kept copies."Our prime purpose in this life is to help others. And if you can't help them, at least don't hurt them." Dalai Lama0 -
thanks for the reply.
We sent off copies so still have everything should we need to send it off again.
Will ring both the PO and benefits office in the morning!0 -
As far as I know they won't accept copies, only the originals.0
