Ideal Classic Boiler No hot water !
Hi All,
Hoping a plumber can help me here. We have got an Ideal Classic boiler which no longer heats hot water. It works fine for the central heating and fires up fine for the hot water but it does not actually make any hot water but again the heating works fine. I think they call it a condensing boiler ? We have a hot water tank. If any one has any suggestions that would be much appreciated!

Check the motorised valve is moving when you call for hot water.
You should see a little indicator lever on the side of it that will move dependent on whether the system has CH, HW or both on.That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
Hi Mate,
Where will I find this motorised valve? Also when you put the hot water on the radiators heat up but the ch is off !0 -
Is it a white box on the pipe work?0

Probably on the pipework near the hot water tank.
Since we can't see your 'white box', we don't know-post a pic of it.
Is it something like this?

Definitely sounds like a sticking motor valve. When you put the hot water on, the valve is allowing hot water into the CH circuit and not sending it to the tank. You may be able to free it off with a bit of waggling, or the actuator may require replacement-a very simple job for a plumber with CH experience. Worst case is that the whole valve requires replacement. No free lunch, and no free laptop
