bought new router netgear n300 cant connect

yet works when set up old router with aohell , with new router on windows7 laptop get error 651. got a horrible feelling aol dont support it, anyone else had this problem? will ring support tomorrow

    you sure you've set your ISP settings into the new router ??? Sounds like you may be missing the ISP username/password and it's not authenticating...

    I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple :D

    Or of course that daz378 is trying to connect to the web using the AOHell utilities perhaps. Daz try just using your browser without the AOL connect.crap , are there any lights on the router ??

    yes, using aohell software could be the issue... but first things first, check the router setup ;)

    no aohell software as i recently bought new laptop and aol router already connected to net without software,, i tried using the windows7 connect to internet via broadband wizard and it prompted me for my aol sign in details , i then got error 651 , might be another set of signin details for previous router , different password /username if specific to router , then need to ring aol for router password.... thanks for replying

    there's your mistake - using the broadband wizard. If you've got the correct ISP details into the new router, all you need is the wifi key to connect new lappy to internet via the new router, nowt else needed :)

    connected wifi keys , still no access , gateway access problem , think maybe wrong isp details , vaguely remember another set of login details , lat year when signed up with aohell

    Have you still got the old router , the details should be on there ....

    had another go , got to the router login page, detected my ppoa or similar settings , asked me for isp username/password the ones i put in said they were wrong, yet with same sign in details was able to login my aol email account today, at least router seems ok

    had to ring support for for line username and password, all sorted now

    proof aohell guy was working from script, after giving me login details to install my new router.....he actually tried to entice me into a new contract ,,, by offering me a new router
