    Thanks for the replies.

    I've just spoken to SSE again and I think we've got everything sorted. They're going to requote based on using the existing 3-phase supply (of which there is only one coming into the building.) The cost will be about £150 - much better!

  • they can (and usually do) just put a new cutout looped off the bottom of an existing cutout for a small charge..
    sounds like thats what they are doing if you say the will use the existing supply and for £150...
