Redundancy Notice / Payments

Hi, I am potentially being made redundant soon and have been offered 16 years redundancy pay however because I am entitled to 3 months notice, will be working my 17th year anniversary. Does anyone know whether my company should be offering me 17 years redundancy pay, not 16? thanks.

    it depends

On the date they give you notice to terminate your employment the notice period is your contractual notice(Or statotory if longer).

The redundancy service is based on the leaving date or the statutory notice date if that is later.

With 16 years service it is 12 weeks statutory notice.(just under 3 months) so it is likely they will be into the 17th year for redundancy.

If this is not enhanced redundacy which can use different rules(as long as it more than statutory) i would check the dates carefully and only mention it once you are in the pay zone.

    edit:

Some comapanies are fare and do the estimates on the date they do them but at actual notice time redo them correctly others....
