'EDF Blue' Tariff change - 'EDF Blue May 2014' not such good value

I switched to EDF on 24 Aug 2012 when MSF oringally suggested this was good value and switched to the 'EDF Blue April 2014' tariff. The switch has now been completed. I visited the EDF site today and saw that the 'EDF Blue Apr 2014' tariff was now no longer available and that it had been replaced by one named 'EDF Blue May 2014'. Out of interest I clicked on 'Get a quote'. I entered my old supplier in as 'EDF Blue Apr 2014' for electricity and 'EDF Blue Apr 2014 Gas' for gas. The result was a message saying 'sorry you're getting a good deal where you are at the moment come back when it ends'. BUT when I put in my old supplier as 'EDF Blue May 2014' for electricity and 'EDF Blue May 2014 Gas' for gas I got a message saying I could save money by switching! BEWARE - the first tariff you are presented with as EDF's 'Top Tariff' is Blue May 2014! The tariff you can actually save money on, isn't this one.
By the way, using the same consumption figures, it costs £113 more on the 'Blue May 2014' tariff than the 'Blue April 2014' tariff. Unfortunately they have stopped selling the April one.

It isn't intended to be such good value. Al the cheap fixes have now sold out their quota and have been pulled, as was predicted on MSE several months back.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
  • Well, yeah, the April 2014 was/ is good deal and anyone who wanted it should have switched before it was closed.

You switched and got the cheaper deal, what's the problem?
  • Sorry, your original post completely cofused me....

Let me try and get this straight:

    1. You are on the April 2014 fix
    2. You are complaining that the May 2014 fix is more expensive?

Sorry if I completely misunderstood, perhaps someone can clarify.
A big believer in karma, you get what you give :A

If you find my posts useful, "pay it forward" and help someone else out, that's how places like MSE can be so successful.
