If its covering the noise of an awful 3 cylinder engine, then I'd say its quite a good feature.
On a serious note, sounds like a fault with wiring leading to the head unit or the head unit itsself. If you're handy with a multimeter then it should be straightforward to find. Otherwise get in contact with Alec Trician, he'll probably find the fault for about 30 queens heads.
