Jars for Chilli Chutney
I've got quite a few chillies I still need to harvest (I can go into types if anyone's fussed!), I made a chutney last week which tasted pretty good, I told the guys at work and they're all keen to try some!
Empyting old jam, pickle etc jars is fine for me, but it looks a bit rubish giving to someone else - does anyone know a good supplier for small jars which isn't too expensive?
I had a scout around and it seemed if I wanted say 12 it would be about 15 quid at least once the shipping was included.

there's no need to buy them new if you're intending them as presents to loved ones as they'll appreciate that it is a genuinely home made product. to make it nicer and more presentable, you can make your own labels (templates on the net) and you can wrap ribbon or fabric covers over the lids too, to make it a little bit posher-looking.
some jars that are recyclable do have unmarked lids w/out writing on them, so there's no embarrassment there.0 -
I received an email from Lakeland the other day and they were promoting small jam jars, small kilner jars and little oil bottles.
I think the prices started from about £1 odd and upwards - some are quite expensive.:)0 -

Do you REALLY think they will give the jam 'jar' a second thought .
If the chutney is good , that is all that matters.
Did see in the paper today ,about an EU 'law' banning using second hand jam jars. Do your bit and tell the EU where to go by recycling.0 -
The 99p Value honey at Tesco is pretty good and you get a 340g jar with a plain unmarked orange lid free with it. We eat a lot of honey, most of my jam and chutney gets put in these jars.Val.0

Thanks guys. I don't think they'd care that much, there would be some remarks for sure
more to the point is the jars I have aren't the same size and I don't have enough of them!!
The hexagonal ones that are about 200ml or so are probably what I'm after, I'll need to make 7 pots of it so I get some for everyone on the team - don't want to show favouritism towards some.0 -
Wilkos has some cheaper jars if you wanted to buy some specifically for presents:

I use jamjarshop.com - a huge range of jars, bottles, etc, at really good prices!0 -
Why not ask your colleagues to bring in a jar which you can fill with your chutney and personalise with a label?
May be useful for next year!0 -
Seen comments before on this. Asda curry sauce or something. Seems it tastes horrible but under 10p a jar.
Smartprice curry normally 23p or something?
Thats if you cannot find anything that you dont use a lot of anyway.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
