Hi guys
Im looking for motorcycle breakdown cover,im not bothered about homestart, all i really want is someone that will recover me and get me home from wherever i have broken down too.
I have seen ' 2gether breakdown cover and green insurance company and rescue my car.com ' which all seems reasonable but have never heard of either of them, anyone got any info on these companys or any other reasonable priced companys.
Thanks

I've always had AA cover on myself (so covers me for any vehicle I'm in). I thought it was only cars but it covers me for bikes as well (rang 'em up, then a few weeks later had to put it to the test!) so don't rule out normal non-motorcycle-specific cover which can be quite competitively priced with cashback etc.

Bike cover isn't that much cheaper, and they always want to recover it ack to my base rather than tinker with it (although the RAC fixed me up at Larne after a massive deluge took out my electrics. £80 for the year and covers me n my car too.

I use greenflag.. their recovery plus package.. 60 odd quid a year, about £40 after
quidco cashback.. covers everything, well pretty much everything.

Homestart, roadside, local recovery, long distance recovery, onward travel etc etc

Used them a couple of times this year.. crappy bike.. cant fault them.

We used to use Autoaid (£34 per year) but OH now has free AA cover with his 6 wheel policy (car and bike).

He did have to call Autoaid a couple of years ago when his bike broke down and they recovered it home no problem and we weren't charged as recovery company had a direct billing arrangement with Autoaid.

It's a long time ago now but i had the Rac, i thought they were pretty rubbish. I guy would turn up with a Transit from a local bike shop and say were did i want to go home or to his workshop where i'd have to pay for any work. They never attempted any work in situ.

Make sure they'll cover you for accident damage. Many won't without wanting to bill your insurance company.

If you drop the bike and break (say) the gear lever you can't ride and won't want to put in an insurance claim for the £10 or so it will cost.

I just use my AA or RAC cover, whoever's quoted me best that year. I always check and they always say the policy covers me on the bike as well. Never put them to the test though, apart from when I collared an RAC man on his break and borrowed a spanner to tighten the mirror on my scooter.
Yes it's overwhelming, but what else can we do?
