Hi there all, my husband is in receipt of high rate care and mobility DLA and incapacity benefit and has been since 2000 following a serious spinal injury at work. He is also in receipt of industrial injuries benefit. I am his carer and so I am at the moment claiming CA, we have a daughter who I obviously receive CB for. We at the moment get income support top up which entitles us to CTB and HB and the health care costs and school meals. My question is this, I am only 38 years old and would so very much like to after 12 years of constant caring get a part time job. I know obviously that if I earn over £100 a wk I wont be able to get CA , if I can earn enough to cover the housing benefits that we would probably lose will my husband still receive his incapacity and Industrial injuries regardless of what ever I might be able to earn?

You can still get some HB etc.
Best thing to do is pop a "hypothetical" scenario into the turn2us calculator. Do undere £100 a week and over to get an idea.
Good luck on the job hunting - I wish you well.0 -
Thank you will give it a go. I just really want to do something to feel like some1 usefu and give something backl. I dont expect to work and still get all benefits, just wondered if husbands 2 benefits would remain or if they were means tested.0

He will be changed to ESA soon and yes that is means tested. If he gets support group it isn't, if he gets WRAG group it is.
Do you think he will be in the support group? Does he fit their descriptors?0
