My parents have just canceled their home insurance with Barclay's after they insisted they took out insurance for their garage. No doubt if they had a garage my parents would have taken out insurance for it but their house don't have a garage. Barclays:wall:
Anyway as a result they are now looking for another company to provide their contents insurance. They live in a council house so just need contents insurance.
Any recommendations gratefully received.

If your Mum & Dad are Council Tenants they should contact their Council and ask if they operate a contents insurance scheme. Many Councils do, and it can be paid weekly with the rent with differing levels of cover.:rotfl:0

good idea from topmum about checking whether the council offers this.
Also, go to moneysupermarket.com and fill in your parents' details to get some quotes. Look at the advice about how to get cheaper insurance (having smoke alarms etc etc) then see what quotes they show you.
If your parents really like one of the quotes, go to quidco.com and see if there is a cashback for using that company. If there is (and there usually is) sign up as a quidco member and get the cashback to give to your parents. Ta-daa!
Edited to say I've just done this for my car insurance and I got £75 cashback.

Try confused.com or moneysupermarket, if there's internet access available take out a policy online as you tend to get a discount for that. I would not always advise the cheapest option though as the cover may not be that good. And never underestimate the value of your contents, it can be quite a surprise when you add everything up!
